Punishments for environmental offenses are being tightened in Uzbekistan. Violations related to causing harm to the environment, damaging or destroying the animal and plant world will now be classified as serious crimes. This decision was announced after being adopted by the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change of Uzbekistan, Nova24.uz reports.
- Administrative fines for violations of the moratorium on tree and shrub felling will be increased fivefold. Fines for causing harm to wildlife through illegal hunting will be increased tenfold.
- Fines for causing harm to plants by destroying or damaging them to the point of halting their growth will be increased fivefold.
- For violations related to the collection, transportation, disposal, storage, and processing of industrial and household waste, as well as improper disposal of solid and construction waste in unauthorized locations, fines are planned to be increased tenfold.
It was previously announced in Uzbekistan that accountability will be introduced for planners whose project documentation results in the felling, uprooting, damage, or destruction of trees and shrubs.
