President Shavkat Mirziyoyev highlighted the significant potential of Uzbekistan's jewelry industry during his visit to the "Gavhar Group" enterprise in the Yangi-Namangan district, Uznews.uz reports.

"In our country, 100 tons of gold are mined annually. Entrepreneurs are allowed to sell gold on installment. In fact, such an opportunity does not exist in other countries. However, only 6% of the gold is processed in our country. Countries that do not mine gold export more jewelry than we do. We are slightly behind in this area. Therefore, we are creating additional conditions for production. And this is just the beginning. We will continue to develop this industry," said Shavkat Mirziyoyev in a conversation with jewelers working at the enterprise.

The "Gavhar Group" enterprise is capable of industrially producing 1.2 tons of jewelry per year. The equipment used at the enterprise was imported from Turkey, Italy, the USA, and Germany. Today, the production of 10 thousand varieties of jewelry has been mastered. In cooperation with foreign partners, the production of high-quality gold cases for watches has been established. In 2023, 270 kg of products were manufactured. Production of products of any shape to order using 3D modeling has been established.

Mirziyoyev also familiarized himself with the products of the "Mekhmash" enterprise, which produces 20 thousand tons of screws and 18 thousand tons of rolled paper per year, with an export potential of $6 million.
