On October 20, 2026, the 25th meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) was held in Dushanbe under the chairmanship of Tajik Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda, Avesta.tj reported.

The meeting brought together heads of government and diplomatic missions of member states, as well as representatives of observer states and guests. Before the talks, the heads of delegations were received by Tajik President Emomali Rahmon.

The key outcome of the summit was the signing of a Joint Communique and a package of decisions aimed at strengthening trade and economic ties, energy security, and industrial cooperation. Participants placed particular emphasis on developing transport and logistics infrastructure, expanding the digital economy, and leveraging the potential of the SCO Interbank Consortium to finance joint investment projects.

Holding the SCO anniversary in Dushanbe underscores Tajikistan's growing role as a key bridge for regional integration. For the republic, strengthening the SCO trade and transport bloc creates direct access to major Asian markets and stimulates foreign investment in hydropower and logistics.

Across Central Asia, the decisions made in Dushanbe contribute to the simplification of transit procedures and the development of sustainable multimodal corridors. Coordinated steps to integrate digital technologies and logistics are enabling the region to overcome its geographic isolation, transforming it into an important transit hub between China, South Asia, and the Middle East.
