Representatives of the current Afghan government have announced their intention to build a new border crossing with Turkmenistan in the Bala Murghab area of the Badghis province, agency Tolo News reports.

The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment (ACCI) expects that the new crossing will help facilitate the import and export of goods between the two countries.

Yunus Momand, the head of the agency, mentioned that the crossing would be used for transporting oil and flour.

The location for the construction has already been determined, and negotiations are underway with companies that will undertake the construction of the necessary infrastructure, according to Zabihullah Mujahid, a representative of the Afghan government.

Currently, there are two border crossings between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan – Akina in the Faryab province and Torghundi in the Herat province.
