Afghanistan and Pakistan to form joint committee to combat wildlife trafficking

Officials from Afghanistan and Pakistan have agreed to establish a joint committee to fight illegal wildlife trafficking, Ariananews.af reports.

The meeting took place between Matiulhaq Khalis, head of Afghanistan’s National Environmental Protection Agency, and Shizra Mansab Ali Khan, Pakistan’s Minister of State for Climate Change, during the Global Snow Leopard and Ecosystem Protection (GSLEP) program conference in Bishkek.

According to a statement from Afghanistan’s Environmental Protection Agency, the new committee will not only work to prevent illegal hunting and trafficking but will also be responsible for coordinating environmental projects and securing international assistance.

The meeting also emphasized joint cooperation to address climate change challenges, with both sides committing to take collaborative steps in this area.
