Afghanistan organizes first exhibition of Panjshir emeralds

The Taliban have announced that they will hold the first exhibition of Panjshir emeralds. This was reported by the Ministry of Commerce of the Taliban government of Afghanistan.

The exhibition will take place from July 10-12, 2024, in Kabul. The themes of the exhibition include:

- Development of mining and export of precious and semi-precious stones
- Introduction to the crafts and culture of Panjshir
- Development of agriculture
- Introduction to medicinal plants of Panjshir
- Promotion of carpet weaving

It is known that in less than a year, the Taliban's Ministry of Industry and Commerce has held 19 auctions for the sale of emeralds mined in Panjshir.

The total mass of the precious stones sold this way was 1,244 carats (248.8 grams), and the revenue amounted to more than $285,000. The Taliban promised that 90% of the income will be spent on the development of the region.
