Turkmenistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rashid Meredov, in an interview with the Qatari newspaper Al Sharq following his meeting with the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, outlined a number of proposals aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two countries, Orient.tm reports.

According to Rashid Meredov, to strengthen collaboration in the gas sector, the Turkmen side proposed organizing a working visit of a Turkmen delegation to Qatar. In return, Qatar will send a delegation of investors to Turkmenistan to discuss investment opportunities related to the Turgundi-Herat railway project.

A working visit of a Qatar Airways delegation to Turkmenistan will also be arranged to develop cooperation in transport and logistics.

Additionally, Rashid Meredov proposed holding Qatar Culture Days in Turkmenistan, which, in his view, would allow the Turkmen people to become more familiar with Qatar’s rich history, art, and culture while strengthening the fraternal ties between the two nations.

In his interview with Al Sharq, the Turkmen foreign minister highly praised the outcome of his meeting with the Emir of Qatar, expressing gratitude for the warm reception. He also acknowledged Qatar’s significant achievements at both local and international levels, emphasizing the shared perspectives of the two countries on peace and the importance of dialogue in international relations.

Rashid Meredov stressed that Turkmenistan is ready to further develop comprehensive cooperation with Qatar, based on the principles of equality, openness, and trust.
