American company to invest $10 bln in Uzbekistan

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the Chairman of the Board, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Air Products, Seifi Ghasemi, during his working visit to New York, and awarded him the "Dustlik" ("Friendship") Order for his contribution to the expansion of Uzbek-American cooperation and support for reforms in the country, Gazeta.uz reports.

During the meeting, agreements were reached on the implementation of a new investment program by Air Products in Uzbekistan amounting to over $10 billion.

Air Products is involved in projects in Uzbekistan related to industrial gas processing at Uzbekistan GTL, the production of syngas, oxygen, and nitrogen, as well as the production of liquefied carbon dioxide gas based on "Navoiyazot."

Over the past two years, direct investments by this company in the development of these projects have exceeded $1 billion.

The discussions also covered prospective projects related to coal gasification, the production of technical gases, hydrogen, and ammonia, as well as the utilization of sour gases.

Air Products experts will also participate in the development of the necessary regulatory framework for decarbonization.

The project portfolio also includes the implementation of innovative developments in the food industry.

The meeting was attended by Deputy U.S. Secretary of State for Energy Jeffrey Pyatt, according to the press service of the President of Uzbekistan.
