President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, speaking at a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO Member States, noted the importance of establishing a Center for Combating International Organized Crime in Bishkek, the press service of the President of Kyrgyzstan reports.

Zhaparov stressed that over the years of its activity, the SCO has achieved significant success and is becoming an increasingly influential sub-regional structure, uniting more than a quarter of the world economy and about half of the world's population.

"The SCO has a constructive cooperation agenda, which is becoming attractive for many countries in different regions of the world. The Kyrgyz Republic supports efforts to improve the activities of the SCO. I believe that its activities should be focused on specific practical results, including with an emphasis on infrastructure development , increasing the material and technical potential and introducing innovative technologies. In the process of improving the work of the Organization, it is necessary to take into account the opinions and proposals of all parties," Zhaparov emphasized.

He focused the attention of the participants on the proposals of Kyrgyzstan to further strengthen the Organization, namely the establishment of the SCO Center for Combating International Organized Crime in Bishkek. On June 14, 2023, consultations of the SCO member states on this issue were held in Cholpon-Ata, where the Kyrgyz side presented the draft Regulations and the structure of the proposed Center.

Regarding security issues, Zhaparov urged not to reduce attention from the Afghan problem.

"For Kyrgyzstan, as well as for our friends, peace and stability in Afghanistan is one of the priority conditions for ensuring regional security. The Kyrgyz Republic is ready to develop good neighborly relations and is interested in a peaceful and stable Afghanistan. At the same time, noting its commitment to the principle of non-intervention in internal affairs of Afghanistan, the Kyrgyz Republic respects the right of the Afghan people to determine the future of their country, based on their historical experience, culture, traditions and national identity," President Japarov concluded.
