World Tourism Organization checks readiness of Uzbekistan to host General Assembly

The program of the visit of the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Zurab Pololikashvili to Uzbekistan includes a visit to Tashkent and acquaintance with its tourist sites, as well as negotiations at the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan.

He has already met with Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov, the Darakchi portal reports.

The 25th General Assembly of the UNWTO is planned to be held in Samarkand in 2023, Dunya reported. In this regard, a lot of systematic work is being carried out in Uzbekistan to further increase the tourism potential and turn the city of Samarkand into one of the world's tourist centers.

One of such city centers today is Silk Road Samarkand, which occupies an area of ​​260 hectares around the Rowing Canal. Such modern facilities as a congress center, 8 hotels of different categories, restaurants, an aqua zone and a unique historical and ethnographic complex "Eternal City" have been built on the territory of the multi-profile complex.
