Banks of Uzbekistan begins refuse to serve clients of Unistream

Banks in Uzbekistan began to abandon the Russian Unistream payment system after it fell under US sanctions.

Ipoteka-bank, Xalq banki, Turonbank stopped working with Unistream. Even before the introduction of sanctions against Unistream, Kapitalbank and Ipak Yuli Bank stopped working.

The Central Bank of Uzbekistan stated that the banks of Uzbekistan suspended work with Unistream for technical reasons.

Similar restrictions on working with Unistream are introduced in Kazakhstan, Armenia and Georgia.

Unistream is a Russian bank, operator and settlement center of the payment system of the same name, through which money transfers are made in 30 countries, including the CIS. The Bank is included in the Register of Payment System Operators.

Since the beginning of the year, Uzbeks have received billions of dollars in remittances. The vast majority of funds came from Russia.
