The Prosecutor General's Office of Kazakhstan has signed a cooperation agreement with the Basel Institute of Management in Switzerland.

The ICAR International Asset Recovery Center, which is part of it, is one of the largest in the world, assisting law enforcement agencies of various countries, Kazpravda.kz reports.

The institute's experts are ready to analyze and give recommendations to Kazakhstan on improving the legal acts regulating the issues of asset recovery; provide legal and advisory assistance in conducting international investigations and preparing inquiries in criminal cases related to the return of assets from abroad.

In addition, prosecutors will receive training and seminars on financial investigations and asset recovery, including on how to obtain online information from the registers of beneficial owners of companies and property owners around the world.

Kazakhstan is actively working to return capital and wealth illegally withdrawn from the country. In March 2023, it was announced that Kazakhstan had returned large funds - more than half a billion dollars.
