After the transition of the gold mining company Kumtor to the state, significant changes are taking place. Last year, the country's budget received 17.2 billion soms in the form of taxes, social payments, and other fees. The net profit of the mine amounted to $302.5 million, said the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, Akylbek Japarov, during his working trip to the Issyk-Kul region, where he familiarized himself with the activities of the closed joint-stock company "Kumtor Gold Company."

Currently, to ensure uninterrupted mining at the mine, more than 800 different transport vehicles, machinery, and equipment are used, the press service of the Kyrgyz government reports.

In February of this year, a project for underground gold mining was launched at the Kumtor deposit, which will allow for the extraction of about 115 tons of gold.

During the inspection of the work of the gold mining plant, it was noted that new equipment has been installed, similar to an X-ray machine, which allows for proper control of personnel entering and leaving the plant premises.

In addition, the mine management informed that starting from 2026, gold mining from ore waste located in the mine's tailings dam is planned. According to preliminary estimates, this will allow for an additional 120 tons of gold to be obtained.

At the end of 2023, 13,567 tons of gold were mined at the Kumtor deposit, the company's total revenue amounted to $848 million, and net profit was $302.5 million.
