In the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent, the concentration of PM2.5, i.e. fine dust, which is a key parameter for assessing air quality, is 3.6 times higher than the WHO recommended annual average.
This is recognized by the authorities of Uzbekistan as unacceptable. President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree aimed at turning Tashkent into a metropolis with clean air, the press service of the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan said. By 2030, an additional 4 thousand hectares of green spaces will be created in Tashkent, it is also planned to reconstruct parks of culture and recreation, avenues and boulevards.
Until January 1, 2027, as a legal experiment, a procedure will be introduced for implementing investment projects and improving urban infrastructure based on mutually beneficial cooperation between the state and entrepreneurs.
