The multi-service logistics operator PEK has launched the delivery of consolidated cargo between Turkmenistan and Russia along the eastern branch of the TRACECA "North-South" corridor. Regular flights depart once every two weeks, and their number will increase next year, TASS reports.

PEK became the first company in Russia to transport consolidated cargo for residents and businesses of both countries. According to the company's estimates, Turkmenistan's transition to international electronic transport documents and the launch of regular ferry service between Astrakhan and Turkmenbashi will help expedite and simplify delivery on this route.

"PEK has launched a comprehensive service in Turkmenistan, which includes not only transportation to the final recipient but also assistance in document processing and warehouse logistics," said Anton Buyanov, the head of PEK: GLOBAL.

"As previously reported by the governor of the Astrakhan region, Igor Babushkin, the Russian region has reached an agreement to resume ferry communication with Turkmenistan…," noted the head of PEK: GLOBAL. "The launch of regular sea voyages will help expedite not only delivery between Russia and Turkmenistan but also transit from other countries in Central Asia and the Middle East along the eastern branch of the TRACECA 'North-South' corridor. According to preliminary calculations, ferry delivery from Turkmenbashi to Astrakhan will take 1-2 days, whereas by road, bypassing the Caspian Sea, it can take up to 8 days."
