The Torugart and Irkeshtam checkpoints on the Kyrgyz-Chinese border have been changed and since December these checkpoints have been operating daily, including Saturday and Sunday. However, both checkpoints work only in one direction: the movement of vehicles and goods is carried out only from China to Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The length of the Kyrgyz-Chinese border is about 1,060 km. Almost all of it passes through hard-to-reach highlands. Due to the difficult terrain, there are only two ground checkpoints along it - Torugart and Irkeshtam.

Currently, they are working according to a special algorithm, which provides only for the movement of vehicles and goods from China to Kyrgyzstan.

The parties agreed on this procedure more than two years ago in connection with the coronavirus pandemic.
