China and USA continue to be main donors of Tajikistan

Tajikistan received humanitarian assistance totaling about $43.5 million in January-July 2023, Asiaplus reports, citing Tajikistan's statistical agency.

The assistance, weighing a total of 18,000 tons, came from 51 countries around the world.

The main donors by assistance value were China (29.0% of the total value) and the USA (25.2%).

Comparatively significant shares were also contributed by Belgium (10.7%), Russia (8.0%), Kazakhstan (4.2%), Turkey (2.9%), Denmark (2.7%), India (2.6%), Uzbekistan (1.9%), Germany (1.6%), Sweden and South Korea (1.5% each), France (1.4%), and the Netherlands (1.0%).

The volume of received assistance for the first seven months of this year, in terms of value at $39.5 million, is less than during the same period in 2022.

The number of donors decreased from 56 to 51 countries compared to the same period last year.

Authorities have not provided media representatives with data on the distribution of received humanitarian assistance among those in need in Tajikistan.
