In the first half of 2024, China exported goods worth $9.4 billion to Kyrgyzstan and imported $95.5 million. This is stated in the semi-annual report of the General Administration of Customs of China, 24.kg reports.
China's trade turnover with Central Asian countries in the first half of 2024 increased by 11.3% compared to the same period in 2023, reaching $44.32 billion. In the context of individual countries, the following changes are observed:
- Kazakhstan: trade volume increased by 19.4%, reaching $21.7 billion;
- Uzbekistan: trade turnover increased by 2.5%, amounting to $6.25 billion;
- Tajikistan: trade decreased by 14.2%, amounting to $1.81 billion;
- Turkmenistan: Trade volume decreased by 4.9% to $5.28 billion.
China's exports to Central Asian countries increased by 14.6% and reached $30.21 billion. Imports from Central Asia to China increased by 4.8%, amounting to $14.11 billion. The negative trade balance between China and Central Asia worsened by 24.7%, rising from $12.91 billion to $16.1 billion.
Turkmenistan was an exception, showing a positive balance. Exports to China were $4.82 billion (down 5%), while imports from China were $460.2 million (down 2.6%).
According to the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, in January – May 2024, the volume of foreign trade in goods increased compared to the same period in 2023. Exports increased by 4.8%, while imports increased by 21.7%. In the structure of trade turnover, exports amounted to 16.1%, imports - 83.9%. The volume of foreign trade with third countries (outside the EAEU) reached $4.7 billion, which is 27.6% more than in January–May 2023.
