A delegation of the People’s Republic of China, headed by Politburo member, Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi, has arrived in Uzbekistan as part of his Central Asian tour to participate in the next session of the strategic dialogue between the foreign ministers of the two countries.
During the visit, Wang Yi was received by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The sides discussed further strengthening of the all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and China in the new era, as well as expanding multifaceted cooperation in line with high-level agreements, Uza.uz reports.
It was noted that thanks to the political will and close coordination of the two countries’ leaders, bilateral relations have reached an unprecedented level. Last year, bilateral trade reached USD 14 billion, the number of joint ventures approached 5,000, and Chinese investments absorbed since the beginning of the year totaled nearly USD 15 billion. The portfolio of joint technology projects is estimated at nearly USD 90 billion.
Special attention was given to cooperation in high technologies, green and nuclear energy, artificial intelligence, transport, infrastructure, agriculture, geology, chemical industry, and other key sectors. The importance of actively advancing the Uzbekistan–Kyrgyzstan–China railway project and linking it with major regional transport corridors was underscored.
