Chinese investments in Kazakhstan amounting to $629 mln - for plant and the energy sector

Kazakhstan and China signed 17 agreements worth $629 million during the III interregional forum "Kazakhstan - China" held in Urumqi, reports the press service of the Government of Kazakhstan.

Almaty region of Kazakhstan and Chinese TBEA signed an agreement on the construction and modernization of 10 substations and power lines. Additionally, an agreement was signed for the construction of a plant for the production of electrical equipment, but the signatories were not specified. Three contracts for the supply of sunflower oil were concluded, and an agreement was signed between Qazaq Camel and Xinjiang Huaken Dairy Group Co Ltd for the supply of dried camel milk.

Representatives from 17 regions, major companies, and business circles of Kazakhstan and 27 regions of China participated in the forum. As noted by Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin at the event's opening, China ranks fourth in terms of investment volume in Kazakhstan.

"All conditions have been created for intensive interregional interaction between Kazakhstan and China. At the same time, there is great potential for new opportunities in investment cooperation," stated Zhumangarin.

On the same day, the international exhibition "China-Eurasia EXPO" began in Urumqi. The Kazakh pavilion, covering an area of 260 square meters, was the largest among the guest pavilions. Export goods from 42 domestic companies were presented. Kazakhstan predominantly showcased food products. Overall, Kazakhstan and China aim to increase their mutual trade turnover to $100 billion.
