The 58th meeting of the Coordination Committee on Air Defense Issues under the Council of Defense Ministers of the CIS member states was held in Dushanbe. Delegations from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan participated in the event, along with representatives from the Secretariat of the Council of Defense Ministers, the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation of Russia, the defense industry complex, basic organizations in the field of air defense research, and military personnel training.

"In the context of the integrated air defense system development within the CIS, joint air defense systems have been created and operate in the regions of collective security, significantly enhancing the airspace protection capabilities of our states," noted Evgeny Klemes, Director of the Security Cooperation Department at the CIS Executive Committee.

He emphasized that at the present stage, the main task is to counter strategic military threats that are gradually shifting into the aerospace and information domains, posing a threat to the national security of all CIS countries.

Satellite reconnaissance systems, unmanned aerial vehicles, reconnaissance aircraft, and other sources of information, which have become commonplace for the military, are now supplemented by data obtained from social networks. Robotics and autonomous systems are becoming key means of conducting armed confrontation.

"The development of existing forms of application and methods of action by troop formations today determines the need to expand the range of tasks solved by the integrated CIS air defense system, including the development of means to counter drones. This applies not only to air defense and electronic warfare means but also to scenarios of aerial clashes between drones," believes the representative of the CIS Executive Committee.

During the meeting, Committee members discussed issues related to the improvement of the integrated air defense system and the strengthening of bilateral and multilateral military cooperation among the CIS countries in the field of air defense.
