Tashkent hosted a meeting of the Consultative Council on Labor, Employment, and Social Protection of the Population of the CIS member states. Representatives from nine Commonwealth countries, the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, trade unions, and executive bodies took part in the event, the CIS Executive Committee’s press service reported.
Participants discussed the development of social and labor cooperation, digital transformation of the labor market, regulation of labor migration, and the creation of a common labor market. Special attention was given to social support for veterans of the Great Patriotic War in the year marking the 80th anniversary of Victory, as well as to measures supporting the elderly.
As part of the meeting, delegations visited the Employment Promotion and Poverty Reduction Office and the Tashkent Skills Center to learn about practical efforts to improve employment.
The Center provides job counseling, language and digital skills training, and offers domestic and overseas vacancies. Training programs, designed in line with WorldSkills standards and labor market needs, consist of 30% theoretical and 70% practical instruction in professions such as electrician, truck driver, cook, confectioner, and hairdresser.
Such centers contribute to entrepreneurship development, offer legal and psychological support, and play a key role in promoting productive employment and reducing poverty across CIS countries.
