A new creative space – the ART-bazar showroom – recently opened in Ashgabat.
As reported by Turkmenistan: The Golden Age, the project was initiated by Tajigul Kurbanova and Allaberdi Jumakuliyev to create a platform where residents and guests of Ashgabat could explore the diversity of Turkmenistan’s cultural and artistic traditions.
ART-bazar is a kind of folk art museum, showcasing works by decorative and applied arts artists, as well as master craftsmen.
The showroom features ceramics, paintings, felt tapestries, leather goods, mulberry paper for drawing and calligraphy, dolls, and much more.
Tajigul Kurbanova, head of the Design Plus initiative group for folk arts and crafts, explains:
"The mission of ART-bazar is to highlight the talented people of Turkmenistan. To achieve this, we travel across the provinces, find craftsmen, connect creative individuals, provide consultations, and support all this with academic knowledge. Our technical support comes from the younger generation, represented by Allaberdi Jumakuliyev. He helps make artisans and their works recognizable through digital technologies."
The new creative space supports local culture and contributes to the development of the tourism sector.
Visitors to ART-bazar can draw inspiration not only by exploring the collection of exhibits but also by actively participating in the creative process, learning about the traditions and culture of the Turkmen people.
