The Organization of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is pleased with the progressing negotiations between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan on border issues. This was stated by the Secretary-General of the organization, Imangali Tasmagambetov, in an interview with the NEWS.ru portal.

According to him, the two countries have managed to achieve a peaceful resolution of this issue.

"The political leadership of the two countries has allowed not only to start and successfully conduct the delimitation of the state border but also to reach a political solution to the problem," he said.

The CSTO Secretary-General added that thanks to this, disagreements and conflict potential between Dushanbe and Bishkek will disappear forever.

Shortly before this, representatives of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan held another round of negotiations on border issues.

The delegations of the two countries held talks on the border between the two villages of Khodzhai A'lo and Ak Tatyr.

Representatives of law enforcement agencies, heads of water management departments, and heads of both districts were present at the meeting.

Recently, the authorities of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan have been actively negotiating the settlement of this issue. Meetings take place alternately on the territory of the two republics. Over the past year, more than 197 km of problematic territories have been approved.

Currently, more than 90% or about 875 km of the border line have been determined and mutually recognized by the states, with less than 100 km left to describe.

The parties intend to complete the work in the near future.
