The Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), Imangali Tasmagambetov, announced the organization's intention to adopt a targeted interstate program to strengthen the Tajik-Afghan border by the end of 2024, TASS reports.

Tasmagambetov stated that for the CSTO, open and honest discussions of all current issues in the spirit of constructive and "soft" alliance are important, as well as decision-making only based on consensus.

"Continuous work is underway to develop and implement specific measures that can strengthen our security space. The most notable example is the CSTO Targeted Interstate Program to strengthen the Tajik-Afghan border, which is planned for adoption this year," he noted.

The CSTO Secretary General emphasized that CSTO member states understand the advantages of mutual support and a collective approach to ensuring security. According to Tasmagambetov, the CSTO must remain committed to its principles and priorities, while adapting to the contemporary context of regional and global security.

"Our common task in the foreseeable future is to enhance the role and significance of the organization in the changing system of international relations," he concluded.
