In 2024, Kazakhstan sent 29 billion tenge ($57.3 million) to Kyrgyzstan, while transfers from Kyrgyzstan to Kazakhstan amounted to 10.7 billion tenge ($21.15 million), Akchabar.kg reports, citing Finprom.kz.

According to analysts, three countries accounted for 80% of all international money transfers from Kazakhstan:

  • Uzbekistan – 234.1 billion tenge ($462.73 million)
  • Russia – 231.2 billion tenge ($457 million)
  • Turkey – 156.2 billion tenge ($308.75 million)

Kyrgyzstan holds a relatively smaller share of total transfers from Kazakhstan.

However, data from the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan significantly differ from Finprom.kz’s calculations. According to the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan, the total volume of money transfers to Kyrgyzstan in 2024 amounted to just $6.4 million, which is 8.9 times lower than the analysts' figures.

A similar discrepancy is observed in transfers from Kyrgyzstan to Kazakhstan. The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan reported that transfers amounted to $3.8 million, which is 5.5 times lower than the figures published by analysts.
