Kassym-Jomart Tokayev spoke about the activities of foreign non-governmental organizations (NGOs) at the XXXIV session of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, Zakon.kz reports.

The President of Kazakhstan reminded about the importance of being able to separate the wheat from the chaff, constructive criticism from indiscriminate criticism, harmless parody from disgusting insults.

"Everyone is equal before the law. Therefore, we have stopped and will continue to strictly stop any provocations and insinuations aimed at undermining interethnic harmony and peace in our country, no matter who they come from. It must be acknowledged that, positioning themselves as champions of freedom of speech, certain supposedly human rights organizations, bloggers and journalists are trying to find a negative political background everywhere and in everything in Kazakhstan, in fact, they are organizing provocations.

This also applies to former citizens of Kazakhstan who have gone abroad and are conducting paid attacks on our people from there, even trying to blackmail our government agencies. Today, it is no secret to many that in doing so they are simply working off the foreign funding allocated to them. Democracy, so to speak, with foreign money. We must clearly understand that abroad, by and large, no one cares about the well-being of our country, including the development of democracy abroad," Tokayev said.

He noted that the latest revelations about the activities of foreign NGOs "have shown their cynicism, greed and indifference to Kazakhstan, and at the same time highlighted the dark sides of some well-known Kazakhstani grant recipients."

"We are not saying that there are no problems in Kazakhstan. Of course, they exist, as in other countries, but we will solve them not according to someone else's manuals, but in accordance with our legislation and national interests. I am sure that our citizens and well-disposed international partners understand this logic of action well. Ideological strife is absolutely alien to our worldview. Our nation is united and cemented as a single historical, cultural and political community by traditions and values that go deep into history, our mentality and way of life," the President of Kazakhstan summed up.
