Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov and Permanent Representative of the United Nations Development Program in Uzbekistan Matilda Dimovsku exchanged views in Tashkent on the main areas of cooperation between Uzbekistan and UNDP and the expansion of its project activities in the country, the Dunyo portal reports.
The meeting emphasized UNDP's commitment to close cooperation with the Uzbek side in the implementation of the New Uzbekistan Development Strategy for 2022-2026, which is fully compatible with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, Dimovsku said.
The parties confirmed their mutual readiness for further development of cooperation in the field of combating climate change and protecting the environment, switching to renewable energy sources, and implementing social and economic programs in the Aral Sea region.
The importance of working out joint projects aimed at developing human capital, ensuring gender equality and fighting corruption was noted.
Earlier, UN Deputy Secretary General Melissa Fleming said that Uzbekistan's resolution was adopted at a decisive moment for the whole world. She called on the nations of the world to work together to shape a common future.
