Kyrgyzstan imported third of electricity it consumes

Kyrgyzstan received 67.8 million kWh of electricity in April 2023 from Russia through the territory of Kazakhstan.

The cost of purchased electricity is not called by the authorities. They call it a trade secret, the agency reports.

Kyrgyzstan produces and consumes at least 16.5 billion kWh per year electricity. Of these, about 560 million kWh. Kyrgyzstan exports during the period of least consumption. In 2022, 16.1 billion kWh was generated, and in 2023, the total domestic consumption is expected to be 16.8 billion kWh.
