Dozens of foreign companies pay “Google tax” in Kyrgyzstan

Dozens of foreign companies that sell services electronically in Kyrgyzstan are registered as a value added tax payer and have become payers of the “Google tax”, Akchabar" reported with reference to the State Tax Service of Kyrgyzstan.

During the year, 39 foreign companies passed tax registration. Among them are brands such as Google, Amazon, Netflix, Yandex Go, Adobe, Xsolla, Spotify, Audible, etc.

“Including 6 companies registered in the USA, 4 each in Dubai, Ireland, the Netherlands, 3 each in the UK, Canada, Cyprus, 2 each in the UAE, Russia and one each in Luxembourg, the Cayman Islands, Latvia, Japan, Estonia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Sweden,” the State Tax Service noted.

In 2022, 4 foreign companies — Yandex Go, Vaskiani Ventures, Xsolla and Adobe, replenished the budget by more than 85 million soms (VAT).

The “Google tax” was introduced in 2022 for foreign organizations providing electronic services to users of the Kyrgyz Republic from abroad. The VAT rate is 12% on the amount of services provided.
