EAEU starts deliveries via Eurasian Agroexpress to Turkmenistan, Iran and India

Food supplies along the North-South corridor will be expanded to Turkmenistan, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, India. It was announced at a meeting of the heads of government of the EAEU at the meetings of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Almaty, TASS reports.

“The heads of government of the EAEU countries supported the proposal of the Eurasian Economic Commission to include in the joint integration project “Eurasian Agroexpress” transportation carried out along the international transport corridor “North-South” in the direction of Turkmenistan, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of India. The corresponding order of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council was adopted within the framework of the meeting held on February 2-3 in Almaty,” the press service said in a statement.

“In connection with the reorientation of a number of transport routes, the demand for the North-South corridor has increased significantly. Pilot shipments made within the framework of the project to Iran and India confirmed the attractiveness of the destination. Our countries here have great potential to expand their transit and export potential,” said Andrey Slepnev, Minister for Trade of the EEC.

The Eurasian Agroexpress project is an accelerated container rail and multimodal supply of agricultural products and foodstuffs from the EAEU member states to domestic and foreign markets. The project was launched on February 25, 2022, in total in 2022, 525.5 thousand tons of chicken and beef meat, milk powder, oil and fat, fruits and vegetables and legumes were transported.
