The Eurasian Development Bank plans to finance the creation of the production of LED products for domestic use and housing and communal services in Tajikistan. $3.5 million will be allocated for this purposes, Sputnik reports.
The sector will be developed by the Tajik company Gayur Group, with which the EDB has already signed a corresponding memorandum.
In addition, the bank will allocate another $2.6 million to support small businesses in the manufacturing and agricultural sectors of Tajikistan.
One of the objectives of the strategy in Tajikistan is the development of the private sector and entrepreneurship, said Ruslana Dalenov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the EDB.
"The EDB focuses on providing credit lines to local financial organizations for subsequent lending to local businesses. In many respects, we are talking about organizations involved in the creation and development of agro-industrial clusters," he stressed.
The EDB will also help Tajikistan with the development of digitalization. Director of the Digital Initiatives Fund Alexander Petrov said that a data center could appear in the republic, similar to Kyrgyzstan.
But this requires a corresponding request from both Dushanbe and the technology industry, which will need this infrastructure, Petrov said.
The EDB signed a memorandum of cooperation in the field of digital transformation with Bishkek in May on the sidelines of the Eurasian Economic Forum, and also agreed to establish a data center to service the transport sector and energy projects.
