On July 21, 2023, a meeting took place between the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan and the Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Development Fund, as well as the Deputy Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Competitiveness and Knowledge Exchange of the United Arab Emirates, within the framework of the UN Headquarters in New York during the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development. The meeting was reported by "Khovar" with reference to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan.
During the meeting, the Minister of Economic Development and Trade presented various investment opportunities in Tajikistan's economy to the United Arab Emirates. He requested funding for the construction of the Rogun Hydropower Plant and priority state investment projects in the areas of energy, industry, infrastructure, agriculture, irrigation, and climate change, which received support.
In turn, the representatives of the UAE called for establishing mutually beneficial cooperation as part of the UAE's state program on sharing best practices in public administration aimed at strengthening the potential of government bodies, institutions, and private individuals.
The Tajik side expressed gratitude to the UAE for the invitation to collaborate on Tajikistan's Fifth Initiative within the framework of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 28) and expressed their comprehensive readiness in this direction.
