80% of the work on extending the new 110 kV power transmission line from Turkmenistan to the city of Herat has been completed, representatives of the Afghan company Herat Electricity Company stated, reports Orient.tm. After the expansion project is completed, the line will be connected to the Noorul Jihad substation, reported the Afghan information resource alemarahenglish.af.

This upgrade marks a significant step forward in improving the energy infrastructure in the region. The completion of the power line expansion will contribute to reliable and efficient electricity supply to meet the needs of Herat's population.

Herat is one of the main trade and industrial centers of Afghanistan, and broader access to electricity for local producers will diversify industries and attract investor interest to the region.

Ashgabat and Kabul aim to double the supply of Turkmen electricity from 110 kV to 220 kV. Afghanistan is a long-standing importer of Turkmen energy resources.
