Export of goods from Tajikistan increased by nearly half in the first half of the year, said the head of the Agency on Statistics of Tajikistan, Jamshed Nurmuhammadzoda, reports Sputnik-Tajikistan.

It is noted that the figure for the first six months of 2024 amounted to $997.8 million, which is 47.1%, or $319.3 million more than in January-June 2023.

Meanwhile, imports of goods into the country exceeded $3.4 billion, which is 24.9%, or $680.1 million more than in the same period of 2023.

"The main export partners were: Kazakhstan - 11.9%, Turkey - 11.1%, Uzbekistan - 8.1%, Russia - 5.9%, Iran - 5.5%, and others. Imports were mainly from: Russia - 26.6% of total imports, China - 20.2%, Kazakhstan - 16.1%, Uzbekistan - 5.6%, Iran - 3.3%, and others," noted Nurmuhammadzoda.

According to him, significant export surpluses were observed in trade operations with Turkey ($111.1 million), Afghanistan ($39.2 million), the Virgin Islands ($1.9 million), and Croatia ($1.8 million).

In January-June 2024, Tajikistan received humanitarian aid from 45 countries amounting to $79 million, said the Head of the Agency of Tajikistan.

Previously, it was reported that foreign investment inflow to Tajikistan amounted to $1.95 billion.

Such statistics for the first half of the year were reported by the Chairman of the State Committee on Investments and State Property Management of the Republic, Sulton Rahimzoda, during a press conference.

The figure increased by 45.9% compared to the same period in 2023. According to him, six investment agreements worth a total of $345 million are still under consideration.
