The film by Uzbek director Umid Khamdamov "Shurhok" won the film festival in the United States, according to the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan.
On November 20, the Environmental Film & Screenplay Festival took place in Los Angeles. The short film "Shurhok", directed by Umid Khamdamov at the initiative of the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan, won in the nomination "Best Cinematography". The cameraman of the film was Jahangir Ibrohimov, also known for his work in the film "Uzbekistlik", according to the portal Nova24.uz.
The film "Shurhok", filmed as part of the "Aral Dream" project, shows the history of peoples closely connected with the Aral Sea. The purpose of the film is to bring the problems of the disappearing sea to the world stage.
The audience at the festival in the USA noted that they had never heard of the Aral Sea and its problems before watching the film. After the film, they are interested in visiting the region or learning more about it. However, the goal of the filmmakers was to attract the attention of the general public. In addition, Shurhok also participated in the Florida Environmental Film Festival in the United States on November 4th.
