The volume of foreign direct investment in Kyrgyzstan in 2025 reached $1.31 billion, an increase of 27% compared to the previous year. This was announced by President Sadyr Japarov on August 24 at the opening of the renovated Ak Keme Hotel, Akchabar.kg reported.
According to him, the growth in investment demonstrates increased confidence among foreign businesses in the Kyrgyz economy and their interest in long-term projects. At the same time, the public-private partnership portfolio is expanding: it currently includes more than 90 projects worth over 456 billion soms ($5.2 billion), 70 of which are already underway.
Investment projects cover energy, transport, regional development, and environmental issues. More than 273,000 jobs were also created in the country in 2025.
Authorities specifically highlight the prospects for tourism and hotel infrastructure. The renovated Ak Keme Hotel is being considered as a venue for international events and business meetings, which could enhance Bishkek's attractiveness for foreign visitors and investors.
The 27% increase in direct investment is a positive sign for the Kyrgyz economy, but it's not just the volume of capital itself that matters, but also its structure. Increased investment in energy, transport, tourism, and processing can create long-term economic benefits if the projects are accompanied by increased productivity, export potential, and employment.
The development of public-private partnerships (PPPs) is of particular importance. A portfolio worth over 456 billion soms ($5.2 billion) demonstrates the government's commitment to attracting private capital for the implementation of large infrastructure projects. Furthermore, to further increase investment, Kyrgyzstan needs to ensure predictable business rules, transparent procedures, and effective investor protection.
The development of hotel infrastructure is also of broader significance: high-quality hotels and business venues form the infrastructure foundation for tourism, international events, and business activity.
