Reserves of precious metals in the form of gold and silver in Kyrgyzstan by the end of 2022 amount to 1.83 thousand tons. Data on this are provided in the Concept for the Development of the Geological and Mining Industry of Kyrgyzstan for 2023-2035, Economist.kg reports.
There are 99 alluvial gold deposits in Kyrgyzstan. Its reserves are 7.4 tons, according to the Concept.
At the same time, there are 59 deposits of primary gold. The reserves of the precious metal in their bowels are estimated at 848.6 tons. Thus, the total gold reserves in Kyrgyzstan are 856 tons.
At the same time, there are 28 silver deposits in the country. Silver reserves amount to 974 tons.
“In Kyrgyzstan, various mineral deposits have been intensively exploited for 80 years, which led to their depletion. Due to the lack of funding for exploration work, the growth of reserves has slowed down and the difference between the balance and produced reserves is decreasing,” the concept document says.
