A high-level meeting of the Group of Friends of Neutrality for the Sake of Peace, Security, and Sustainable Development took place in the capital of Turkmenistan.

The meeting, organized in a hybrid format, was attended by representatives of UN member states, as well as leaders and representatives of international, regional, and sub-regional organizations, Turkmen TDH reports.

Participants in the meeting, in their statements, highly praised Turkmenistan's role in promoting constructive international dialogue and the active use of tools to strengthen global peace and security.

Opportunities for developing a Global Security Strategy based on the principles of the UN Charter and universally recognized norms of international law were discussed, taking into account current realities and trends in global development.

Participants exchanged views on the possibility of establishing the Institute of Neutrality and Security in Ashgabat.

Speakers stated that this meeting provides a good opportunity to broadly and comprehensively discuss the experience and results achieved through the policy of neutrality, creating conditions for the development of new, more effective mechanisms of cooperation on current issues in international affairs.

The Group of Friends of Neutrality was officially established at Turkmenistan's initiative in 2020, and to date, 25 countries have joined it. The Group's goal is to promote regular interaction at the international level within the framework of the UN in the practical application of the peacekeeping potential of states.
