A delegation of the Russian PJSC Gazprom visited Turkmenistan to hold talks on cooperation in the energy sector. This information was disseminated by the press service of the Russian company, Asia today reports.
During the visit, the Gazprom delegation was led by Alexei Miller, Chairman of the Board. He held meetings with President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Chairman of the People's Council (Halk Maslakhaty) of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
Detailed information about what was discussed at past meetings is not available. The parties considered the course and prospects of cooperation in the gas sector, according to a press release from the company.
Russian Gazprom buys huge volumes of Turkmen gas and is interested in expanding cooperation with Turkmenistan. European countries are also interested in Turkmen gas and are ready to buy it and deliver it to Europe through Azerbaijan and Turkey.
The Russian "Gzzprom" opened its representative office in Turkmenistan in 2003.
