A sharp increase in electricity consumption has been noticed in Uzbekistan. In one day on June 13, 231.7 million kWh of electricity was consumed. A year ago, 202 million kWh of electricity was used on the same day. The growth rate was 14.7%. These figures are a record for June, according to the portal Podrobno.uz.

According to the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan, daily electricity consumption increased by about 30 million kWh compared to last year. The day before, electricity consumption reached 11,080 MW in 1 hour. Compared to last year's figures, this number is almost 1600 MW or 15.4% more. At the same time, even in the most abnormally hot period of July 2022, the maximum load did not exceed 10,800 MW, and the maximum daily consumption did not exceed 238.2 million kWh.

Demand for electricity in Uzbekistan is growing due to high air temperature. This leads to an additional load on electrical networks and transformer points. The heat can also reduce the conductivity of power grids by 20% and create losses in the system, the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan said in a statement.

The ministry also emphasizes that the hottest time in the country has not yet arrived. The highest temperature in Uzbekistan occurs in July-August.
