South Korean company Hyundai Rotem has shipped the first batch of its “Jaloliddin Manguberdi” high-speed trains to Uzbekistan, Daryo.uz reports, citing the Uzbek Ministry of Transport.
An official send-off ceremony took place at the port of Masan in the city of Changwon. The event was attended by Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjayev, representatives of the South Korean government, and Hyundai Rotem executives.
The “Jaloliddin Manguberdi” trains are being manufactured under a contract signed with Uzbekistan Railways in June 2024.
Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan plans to purchase six Hyundai Rotem high-speed electric trains. The first train is expected to be launched next year on the Tashkent–Urgench–Khiva route. The new trains will reduce travel time from the current 14 hours to 7.5 hours.
