In Afghanistan, 300 thsd tons of cargo transported by rail in a month

From August 22 to September 21, 2024, over 300,000 tons of cargo were transported via Afghanistan's railways, according to the Afghan Ministry of Public Works, reports Eadaily.com.

According to ministry representative Mohammad Ashraf Hakshenas, more than 8,000 tons of these goods, mainly dried fruits and pomegranate juice, were exported.

"More than 317,000 tons of various cargo were transported, of which over 250,000 tons passed through the Hairatan port. The rest was transported through other ports, including oil, liquefied gas, wheat, flour, vegetable oil, food products, and construction materials," he explained.

According to the Afghan ministry, Afghanistan currently has 260 km of operational railway lines connecting the country with Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Iran, facilitating daily shipments to regional countries.
