A distinctive feature of the 5th Consultative Meeting of the Heads of Central Asian States in Dushanbe was the participation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. He was invited to the Summit as an honorary guest.
The summit is attended by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymukhamedov, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, Kazakhstan's leader Kasym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, and Uzbekistan's leader Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The summit agenda includes discussions on the development of cooperation in political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
It is expected that the heads of state will pay special attention to the expansion of partnerships in fuel and energy, transportation, and other areas.
Participants will also discuss international and regional policy issues of mutual interest.
At the summit, President Rahmon of Tajikistan proposed the creation of an Association of Media in the region. President Berdymukhamedov of Turkmenistan made several important proposals, including the establishment of a Central Asian Trade Chamber and the regular conduct of an Energy Dialogue among Central Asian countries. Additionally, he expressed Turkmenistan's readiness to host a meeting of the Security and Cooperation Dialogue in Central Asia.
The summit is expected to feature speeches by the presidents of other regional countries and the President of Azerbaijan.
As of now, all Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan, except Tajikistan, are members of the Turkic Council, initiated by Turkiye and declared in 2022 in Samarkand.
