More than half of the deputies from the previous convocation have retained their seats in the updated parliament of Kyrgyzstan, Interfax reports.
Preliminary data from the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Kyrgyzstan show that 49 members of the former Jogorku Kenesh have been re-elected, indicating significant continuity among political elites amid the electoral system reform.
According to the CEC, 100% of ballots from automated voting machines have been processed. The analysis of results showed that several well-known politicians maintained their positions and secured new parliamentary mandates.
In constituency No. 23, Deputy Elvira Surabaldieva led the vote with 25.37%. Her colleagues from the 7th convocation, Marlen Mamatalev (18.09%) and Umbetaly Kydyraliev (17.1%), took second and third places. All three will join the new Jogorku Kenesh.
In Bishkek’s constituency No. 22, Deputy Dastan Bekeshev won with the support of 15,100 voters (43.27%). Former deputy Gulya Kozhokulova also secured a mandate with 2.85% of the votes.
Former parliamentary speaker Nurlanbek uulu Turgunbek retained political influence, winning 25.59% in constituency No. 15. Members of prominent political families also entered the new parliament: the son of former President Almazbek Atambayev, Seidbek Atambayev, and the brother of the head of the State Committee for National Security, Kamchybek Tashiev, Shairbek Tashiev. Both had previously served in parliament.
Other well-known politicians such as Zhanar Akaev, Erulan Kokulov, Ulan Primov, Kamila Talieva, and others also retained their seats. Experts note that despite the change in the electoral model, voters largely chose familiar figures.
These elections were the first following a major reform of the electoral system. The new law, adopted in June 2025, replaced the mixed system with a majoritarian model comprising 30 multi-member constituencies. Three deputies are elected from each constituency, with at least one required to be a woman.
The updated parliament consists of 90 deputies.
The used ballot boxes and their software were supplied from South Korea. Official results will be announced no later than December 14, following the review of any election complaints.
