In Uzbekistan, almost 60% of graduates unemployed

The Minister of Employment and Poverty Reduction of Uzbekistan Bekhzod Musayev spoke about the work on employment of graduates of higher educational institutions in 2024. Deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis heard his report, Gazeta.uz reports.

According to the minister, 41%, or 88 thousand out of 214 thousand, of this year's university graduates have already been hired through a single national employment system based on an employment contract.

However, 59%, or 126 thousand, of young specialists cannot yet find a job. The analysis showed that 95 thousand young people can find work in 102 thousand vacancies, the minister said.

In August-September, together with other organizations, it is planned to carry out work on the employment of each graduate depending on his place of residence through district and city employment systems.

According to the head of the Ministry of Employment, there are currently 358 thousand vacancies registered in 139 thousand organizations in Uzbekistan, of which 81 thousand are in government agencies, 277 thousand are in the private sector. 112 thousand vacancies require higher education.

The job positions are distributed as follows:

  • Service sector — 96 thousand;
  • Education — 56 thousand;
  • Industry and manufacturing — 57 thousand;
  • Agriculture — 48 thousand;
  • Construction — 32 thousand;
  • Healthcare — 26 thousand;
  • Communications and information technology — 7000;
  • Finance and insurance — 5000;
  • Culture — 4000.
