Inflation in annual terms in Tajikistan compared to the beginning of 2022 amounted to 4.3%, according to the report of the National Bank of Tajikistan.

Inflation in Tajikistan in January 2023 amounted to 0.5%, the National Bank of Tajikistan reports.

Inflation has developed mainly due to the growth in prices for food products, which have risen in price by 5.2% in Tajikistan.

Non-food products grew by 4%, and services - by 1.9%.

The Ministry of Economy of Tajikistan specified that in 2022 the inflation rate was 4.2%, which is 3.8% lower than in 2021.

Earlier, analysts from the Eurasian Development Bank concluded that by the end of 2022, inflation in Tajikistan decreased from 4.5% in November to 4.1% in December.

The slowdown in the growth of consumer prices was facilitated by a decrease in the cost in international markets, where Tajikistan imports food and energy.

Meanwhile, Tajikistan's external debt at the beginning of 2023 amounted to $3.2 billion, Avesta reports, citing the country's Finance Minister Fayziddin Kakhorzoda.

The volume of external debt amounted to 28.5% of the Gross Domestic Product of Tajikistan, Kakhorzoda said.

$254.6 million was allocated to service the external debt. $72 million of this amount was directed to interest rates.
