Inflation in Uzbekistan in 2022 exceeded three years' figures

In Uzbekistan, in 2022, the highest inflation in three years was 12.25%, although in December the price increase was one of the lowest in recent years - 1.23%, according to a report by the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan, Gazeta.uz reports.

Among important foodstuffs, milk has risen in price by 2.4% over the month, eggs - 5.2%, potatoes - 2.4%, onions - 9.9%.

This is the highest figure for the past three years, which was predicted by the government and the Central Bank of Uzbekistan. In 2021, the price increase was 9.98%, in 2020 - 11.14%, but in 2019 inflation reached 15.2%.

At the same time, inflation in December was 1.23%, which is the lowest since 2016 (data on monthly inflation from this period are available on the website of the State Statistics Committee).

The leader in price growth over the last month of last year was food products - 1.7% (for the entire year - 15.6%). Non-food products increased in price by 0.8% (10.7%), services - 1.1% (8.4%).
