International reserves of Kyrgyzstan exceeded $3 bln

Kyrgyzstan's international reserves at the beginning of December, 2023, amounted to $3.1 billion, stated Kubanychbek Bokontaev, the Chairman of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic (NBKR), during a visit by Kyrgyz Parliament members to the National Bank, Economist.kg reports.

The head of the NBKR presented the parliamentary members with preliminary results of the regulator's activities for 2023, the implementation of monetary policy, as well as information on the regulation and supervision of the activities of financial institutions and ensuring the efficiency, safety, and reliability of the country's payment system.

"The inflation rate has decreased from 14.7% at the end of 2022 to 7.1% as of December 8, 2023. The NBKR's international reserves have reached $3.1 billion, ensuring the uninterrupted operation of the banking and payment system, as well as maintaining the stability of the national currency exchange rate," noted Bokontaev.

In turn, parliamentarians emphasized the need to continue working to ensure the availability of loans and banking services for the population, improve the activities of financial institutions providing services based on Islamic financing principles, and develop payments using QR codes and mobile applications.
