International Symposium "Alisher Navoi and the Eastern Renaissance" in Uzbekistan

The IV International Symposium on "Alisher Navoi and the Eastern Renaissance" was held in the Navoi region of Uzbekistan, reports Uza.uz.

The event, organized in connection with the 584th anniversary of the great poet’s birth, was attended by Navoi scholars from Azerbaijan, Egypt, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, the USA, Tajikistan, Turkey, and other countries, as well as renowned scholars and representatives of the creative intelligentsia from all regions of Uzbekistan.

The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, sent a congratulatory message to the symposium participants, emphasizing that Alisher Navoi accomplished a true spiritual feat, resolutely upholding national and universal ideals under extremely difficult conditions. He laid the foundations and fully demonstrated the inexhaustible richness and beauty of the Uzbek literary language.

"Today, as we build the foundation of the Third Renaissance in New Uzbekistan, we see the works of Alisher Navoi as an inexhaustible source of strength, energy, and inspiration," President Mirziyoyev said in his speech. "The deep study and promotion of this unique spiritual wealth will always remain at the center of our attention."

Developing this idea, the speakers at the symposium noted that in today's era of globalization, achieving spiritual progress and deeply studying the unique creative heritage of ancestors, especially among the youth, is of great importance.

Nizomiddin Mir Alisher (February 9, 1441 – January 3, 1501) was a Turkic poet, Sufi, and statesman of Timurid Khorasan.

His major works were written under the pen name Navoi in the literary Chagatai language, while under the pseudonym Fani, he wrote in Persian. His creativity gave a powerful impetus to the development of literature in Turkic languages, particularly Chagatai, and the literary traditions that later influenced Uzbek and Uyghur literature.
